UMU was proud to participate in the Uganda Education Expo 2025 held in Bujumbura, Burundi, a significant event aimed at strengthening ties between Ugandan educational institutions and the Burundian Ministry of Education. This year’s Expo highlighted the wealth of study opportunities in Uganda, specifically for students following the Ugandan curriculum, and underscored the growing importance of regional collaboration in advancing education in East Africa.
The Expo, organized by the Embassy of Uganda in Burundi and led by H.E. Matayo Kyaligonza, provided an invaluable platform for Ugandan institutions, including UMU, to showcase their academic offerings to Burundian students and educators. It also facilitated direct engagement with the Burundian Ministry of Education, reinforcing the shared commitment to improving educational standards and providing students with access to high-quality academic programs across the region.
As the educational landscape in East Africa continues to evolve, the Uganda Education Expo has become an essential event for students interested in pursuing further studies in Uganda. With a strong representation of Ugandan universities, including UMU, the Expo served as an opportunity to introduce Burundian students to a wide range of study opportunities in Uganda—especially those who have completed or are currently following the Ugandan curriculum.
UMU’s participation allowed us to engage with prospective students and their families, offering detailed information on the programs we offer, our academic standards, and the unique advantages of studying at UMU. The event also highlighted the value of cross-border education and the opportunity for Burundian students to experience a diverse, culturally rich learning environment in Uganda. We showcased our wide range of programs—from business and social sciences to education and technology—that align with our mission of providing holistic, ethics-driven education. Our representatives engaged with prospective students, educators, and officials, sharing how UMU equips learners with 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and communication, all grounded in values that resonate across cultures.
The Education Expo wasn’t just about promoting academic programs—it was about building stronger educational ties between Uganda and Burundi. By participating in the event, UMU, alongside other Ugandan institutions, helped to reinforce the regional relationship that both countries share through education. This collaboration is crucial in expanding access to quality education for East African students and providing them with opportunities to pursue higher education in institutions that uphold high academic standards.
We are thrilled to have been part of this important event and look forward to further collaborations with Burundi’s Ministry of Education and other educational institutions in the region. The Uganda Education Expo 2025 has opened up new avenues for Burundian students to pursue their academic dreams and for Uganda’s universities to strengthen their presence in the East African educational sector. As we continue to build these vital connections, UMU remains committed to providing world-class education that empowers students to excel and become leaders in their chosen fields—whether in Uganda, Burundi, or beyond.
